Jamie Richards
ASSOCIATE
Jamie Richards is an Associate in MKC&I’s Syracuse, NY office. Her practice focuses primarily on products liability and toxic tort claims, including asbestos related claims. Jamie has experience in all stages of litigation, from responding to pleadings and conducting discovery through arguing motions. Jamie appreciates the importance of diligently handling all cases, and keeping clients updated on all significant case developments.
Prior to joining the firm, Jamie worked as an Assistant Public Defender representing indigent clients, seeing cases from beginning to end. She regularly appeared in court and negotiated with the Assistant District Attorneys assigned to her cases. Jamie’s experience also includes advocating for individuals facing employment discrimination by employment agencies.
On a personal level, Jamie enjoys traveling and spending time with her dogs. She likes to give back by volunteering with local dog shelters.
Jamie obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Syracuse University College of Law, where she was on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Global Rights and Organizations, and published an article titled “Gender Identity and Asylum: The New Standard To Be Applied For Transgender Applicants Seeking Relief Under A Claim of Asylum, Withholding of Removal, and Convention Against Torture.” Jamie was also a member of the Criminal Defense Clinic throughout her last year at SUCOL. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology with a Minor in Forensic Psychology from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.
