Pooja Patel is a Partner in MKCI’s Florham Park, NJ office and Director of MKCI’s talc litigation group. She represents a variety of clients in the talc, asbestos, and other toxic tort matters, and has second chaired three cases to verdict and began several others across the country.
In addition, Pooja directs litigation throughout the country as National Coordinating Counsel. This role involves everything from developing a corporate story, training local counsel, defending corporate representative depositions, managing client discovery, handling expert workup and controlling trial strategy. She also negotiates settlements nationally.
Pooja is also a member of MKCI’s Leadership Committee, and Co-chair of the MKCI Diversity & Inclusion Committee. She is involved in training and mentoring attorneys and staff, and assists in managing the Florham Park office.
Pooja has presented at national conferences on various topics including bankruptcy trusts, defending a deposition, how to defend benzene cases, jurisdiction updates, and managing the talc litigation as NCC. She has also helped organize and plan CLE and CE sessions.
On a personal level, Pooja works on broadening her horizons by learning other languages and exploring other cultures. She is also an avid reader, enjoys traveling, experimenting with baking desserts and playing tennis.
Pooja obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers University School of Law and participated in the children’s clinic and pro bono tax clinic. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Philosophy from Rutgers University, where she was a Henry Rutgers Scholar.
