Mr. Jean, a partner in MK&C’s New York and New Jersey offices, is a seasoned federal and state litigator who has prepared hundreds of cases for trial, and obtained numerous successful jury verdicts and favorable resolutions for his clients. Mr. Jean is equally skilled in reducing clients’ risk exposure via motion practice and alternative dispute resolution methods.
Mr. Jean was formerly Of Counsel to a prominent New Jersey law firm, where he provided legal counsel and litigation services to individuals, municipalities, school boards, mayors, and corporations in numerous high-profile and high-exposure cases. Capitalizing on his prior experiences, Mr. Jean represents his MK&C clients in claims arising out of complex civil litigation, labor & employment, civil rights, professional liability, catastrophic personal injury, products liability, and other commercial litigation.
Mr. Jean is a Certified Civil Trial Attorney, a certification granted by the New Jersey Supreme Court to less than 2% of attorneys in New Jersey. The New Jersey Supreme Court also appointed Mr. Jean to the District IIA Ethics Committee, where he investigated and prosecuted claims of unethical attorney conduct from 2010 to 2014.
Mr. Jean has also been recognized by the New Jersey Journal in their “New Leaders of the Bar” List. Formerly known as “40 Under 40,” the list identifies a select group of distinguished young attorneys for their outstanding career achievements and contribution to the legal community through leadership in the bar. Additionally, Mr. Jean was previously selected to the New Jersey Super Lawyers “Rising Stars” list in 2010, 2011, and 2013, in the field of general litigation. In addition to his active litigation practice, in 2017, Mr. Jean was sworn into a four-year term on the Englewood New Jersey Planning Board, where he utilizes his legal training to approve specific site plans, proposals for subdivision or development, and layout of streets and highways; advises the City Council in matters relating to the master plan; and grants variances from municipal regulations.
Mr. Jean graduated from Syracuse University College of Law in 2003, where he began honing his trial skills in the Moot Court Trial Advocacy program – becoming a finalist in National Trial Competitions hosted by the American Bar Association (ABA), National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) and American Trial Lawyers Association (ATLA). He received his B.A. from Hunter College of the City University of New York, cum laude, in 1999.
