Mr. Friestedt has over twenty-five years experience in the practice of law as a litigator and as a manager of the defense of civil matters for clients on the local and national levels. Before graduating from Villanova Law School in May 1986, he attended Simons Rock of Bard College and then graduated Magna Cum Laude from Elmira College in upstate New York. After law school, he held a two year judicial clerkship with Paul Ribner which involved him in criminal and civil trials ranging from homicide to complex corporate matters.
Mr. Friestedt’s private practice has focused on the litigation of consumer product liability, toxic tort and other complex litigation, including class actions and insurance defense. He has tried complex cases on behalf of automotive manufacturer clients, fire door manufacturers, construction product manufacturers and construction contractors. He has also defended class action litigation involving asbestos in buildings as well as spinal fixation devices in the drug and medical device fields.
Mr. Friestedt is National Coordinating Counsel for a major manufacturer and marketer of expansion and pressure control products used in water systems and selected sectors of the HVAC market for commercial, industrial and domestic uses. Mr. Friestedt has served with National Counsel for a major automotive manufacturer and has served as Regional Counsel, and with National Counsel, for a national manufacturer of insulation materials. In these capacities, he has coordinated the defense of matters in diverse jurisdictions including Alabama, Arizona, California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Florida, Louisiana, Texas, Illinois, Maine, Missouri, Mississippi, Maryland, South Carolina, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and British Columbia, Canada. Mr. Friestedt is admitted to the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, the Supreme Court of New Jersey, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. He is also a member of the Defense Research Institute and is a partner in the firm.
Mr. Friestedt has presented lectures at seminars on various topics relating to litigation. In the Pennsylvania and Delaware regions, Mr. Friestedt assists the firm with on-site management of the MKC&I offices.
