Michael Mignano

Michael Mignano is an Associate in MKCI’s Livingston, NJ office. His practice focuses on the defense of individuals, businesses, non-profits, and insurance carriers in a variety of contexts, including asbestos and talc toxic tort matters, automobile and trucking claims, premises liability claims, and educational liability matters. Beyond these areas, Michael has experience in a wide variety of litigation matters, including representing individuals in personal injury claims including, slip and falls, automobile accidents, animal attacks, and premises liability. Michael believes this experience in litigating from the plaintiff’s point of view and negotiating settlements with insurance companies and attorneys has given him keen insight into both sides of the litigation process.

Michael decided to go to law school after a successful 20 plus year career on Wall Street as an equities trader, options principal, and trading desk manager. He prides himself on the ability to adapt to new challenges and, in this case, a new career. Michael has also handled private investor claims, including improper trading and Broker/Dealer violations clearing trades, represented large lending institutions in commercial foreclosure cases, and has made hundreds of appearances in municipal and landlord/tenant court representing commercial and residential landlords.

Michael is an approved arbitrator for FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) and sat on several 3 person panels ruling on investor claims against financial institutions. He has also volunteered for “Wills for Heroes”, an NJSBA organization that drafts wills on the weekends for first responders in towns across New Jersey.

On a personal level, Michael was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, but has resided in Warren, NJ for more than 20 years. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys relaxing vacations and weekend getaways with his wife Denise, reading, and has recently taken up Pickleball.

Michael obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Brooklyn Law School at night while working full time as a Vice President and Trading Desk Manager on the Foreign Equities desk at Knight Securities, LLC. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice at John Jay College, The City University of New York. While at John Jay, Michael was 4-year member of the varsity baseball team, earning all-conference honors as well as being named team captain in his senior year. Michael is also a member of John Jay College Athletic Hall of Fame.
