James A. Long, Esq. McGivney & Kluger, P.C. is proud to announce that Mr. Long has joined the firm as a Senior Associate in our Florham Park, NJ office.
Mr. Long represents clients in products liability cases involving medical devices, pharmaceuticals and asbestos as well as general liability matters, professional liability matters, complex commercial cases, and toxic torts. He is experienced in defending mass torts, class actions, and multidistrict proceedings. His clients range in size from Fortune 500 companies to individuals on a pro bono basis. With a background in business and technology and an unrelenting focus on client satisfaction, Mr. Long works to understand the legal and business issues in each case in order to serve the client's needs in a cost-effective manner.
Mr. Long earned his Juris Doctor from the New York University School of Law, where he was the notes editor of the Annual Survey of American Law. He received his B.A, cum laude, in political science from The City College of New York and graduated as a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Before going to law school, Mr. Long was a programmer and entrepreneur in the technology industry. For 8 years, he worked on the cutting edge of internet technology, first as a coder on a variety of complex business applications and later as a co-owner of an internet technology consulting firm. He now applies his knowledge of information systems to maximize efficiency in case management and e-discovery.
Mr. Long is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Morris County Bar Association, DRI, and the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey. He also serves on the legal program board at Covenant House New Jersey.
