MK&C Welcomes Morris R. Borea

January 22, 2016
MK&C Welcomes Morris R. Borea MORRIS R. BOREA, ESQ.
McGivney, Kluger & Cook, P.C. is proud to announce that Mr. Borea has joined the firm as a partner and trial counsel in our Hartford, Connecticut office.

Mr. Borea is an accomplished trial lawyer who has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in numerous trials before juries in State and Federal Courts in Connecticut, including product liability, medical malpractice and wrongful death claims. He has also tried many bench trials before State and Federal Court judges in Connecticut, including employment claims, unfair trade practice claims and commercial tax appeals. Mr. Borea has been selected as a Connecticut Super Lawyer in Litigation since 2012. Mr. Borea is committed to representing every client through trial if necessary. He knows that by preparing to try every case, most will be resolved in his client's favor before trial.

In addition to being a trial lawyer, Mr. Borea is a well-known municipal lawyer who has been representing cities and towns in central Connecticut for over 15 years. As the Rocky Hill Town Attorney, he was lead counsel in the landmark Rocky Hill v. SecureCare Realty case, where the Connecticut State Supreme Court held that Towns and Municipalities could enforce their local zoning regulations against enterprises performing services for the State and could bring actions to collect real estate taxes against such entities. Though the Town lost in the trial court, the Supreme Court's complete reversal of the trial court's decision in the SecureCare case is typical of Mr. Borea's belief that if he cannot find a way he will make a way to successfully represent his clients.

Mr. Borea has lectured many times about jury selection, trial tactics, the presentation and cross-examination of experts, product liability and wrongful death claims. He has also lectured on municipal and governmental liability, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the trial of a tax appeal and eminent domain litigation. Mr. Borea believes in giving back to his community, and serves as Pro Bono General Counsel to Live-Kind, Inc., a non-profit corporation that provides anti-bullying programs and community/police relations programs to inner city schools and police departments. Mr. Borea is a former Chairman and a present member of the Zoning Board of Appeals in Wethersfield. He is a member of the Board of Directors of UNICO National, an Italian-American service organization that raises money for charity. Mr. Borea is a past president of the Wethersfield Chapter of UNICO and serves on the Scholarship Committee.

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Borea to our firm.
