McGivney, Kluger, Clark & Intoccia, P.C. is proud to announce that we have achieved Mansfield Certification!
Mansfield Certification, facilitated by Diversity Lab, is the culmination of efforts our firm has taken over an 18-month period to further diversify our firm’s leadership and ensure consideration of our broad pool of talent for internal leadership roles as well as client-facing business development and formal pitch opportunities. Our firm has also increased transparency internally, with written and accessible advancement processes and role descriptions.
This Certification matters a great deal to our firm, and we hope our efforts are seen and valued by our clients and colleagues. The goal of Mansfield Certification is to increase and sustain diversity in law firm leadership through a science-driven method that embeds accountability, transparency, and knowledge sharing into our talent practices. We know that with diverse leadership comes more inclusive and equitable decisions that reflect the needs of our diverse workforce for the benefit of our talent and clients.
It is our expectation that this Certification will not just be a credential, but will continue to have a daily impact on how decisions are made at our law firm. Whenever our firm leadership makes a decision about who to appoint to firm leadership roles we have, and will continue, to proactively consider a slate of talented lawyers, including lawyers from historically underrepresented groups. The same holds true when we build teams for business development, and to present formal business pitches to clients and prospective clients. Our clients will see all that we have to offer, and not just a select few. And, as part of Mansfield, we also work hard to ensure that our processes
for advancement and the job expectations/qualifications for leaders at the firm are and remain transparent.
Mansfield Certification has been demonstrated to work – and we have seen it work at MKCI. Our firm’s leadership, including our Management Committee, Leadership Committee, and our entire business development team features strong lawyers from various backgrounds, and we proactively include diverse lawyers from underrepresented groups in each of these units. Our clients have already started to tell us how they are appreciating meeting more of our attorneys at our business events, and we will continue that trend. This commitment extends beyond just our business practices, too – over the last several years, our firm’s Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee has created a charitable foundation that has already funded law school scholarships for four law students from historically underrepresented groups, and we have numerous events planned to keep raising funds for this noble goal of building a more inclusive bar from the ground up.
MKCI is pleased to have reached this significant milestone and we will continue to build teams that reflect the diversity of our clients and communities while providing innovative counsel and exceptional service. Our “Commitment to Excellence” demanded of us that we attain this Certification and pursue what it requires. That commitment will continue.
Thank you to all of our clients for partnering with us to make real progress. Mansfield Certification was made known to us by our valued industry partners, and we are pleased to share your values and your priorities. There’s more to do, of course, and we look forward to our continued collaboration with you.
