Assitan Diakite is an Associate Attorney in MKCI’s New York office. Her practice includes toxic tort product liability and general liability matters. Assitan is involved in all stages of litigation, including claim investigation, written discovery, depositions, mediation, negotiation, motion practice, and preparing cases for trial. Assitan understands the importance of timely and accurate client communication, and is committed to achieving the best results for clients through her passionate advocacy, thorough analysis, close attention to detail, and professionalism.
Prior to joining MKCI in 2026, Assitan worked as an Assistant District Attorney in the Bronx District Attorney’s Office where she managed a high-volume caseload of misdemeanor and felony cases. While there, Assitan was involved in all stages of trial litigation including writing criminal complaints, making regular court appearances, arguing motions, deposing witnesses, conducting evidentiary hearings, and trial preparation. Additionally, Assitan previously interned at an AmLaw 200 firm in their labor and employment group, where she drafted memoranda analyzing the viability of plaintiff’s claims and possible defenses for clients. She has also interned at various legal aid agencies in the immigration field, where she compiled various humanitarian relief immigration applications, drafted arguments for use during hearings in immigration court, and drafted a habeas petition for the release of an individual in ICE custody.
In addition to her work at MKCI, Assitan enjoys cooking, traveling, and volunteering for community service.
Assitan earned her Juris Doctor degree from Albany Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from University at Albany. While at Albany Law, she was the Treasurer for the Muslim Law Students Association (MLSA) and the Secretary for the Black Law Student’s Association (BLSA). Assitan was also engaged in Moot Court competitions during her time in law school.
