Jackie Merson is Of Counsel in MKCI’s New York City office. Her practice focuses on toxic tort claims involving asbestos, benzene, chemical exposure, fire claims, and environmental contamination, as well as defense of personal injury, negligent supervision, product liability, premises liability, municipal liability, and Child Victim Act matters.
Jackie is involved in all stages of litigation, including claim investigation, written discovery, depositions, mediation, negotiation, motion practice, and in preparing cases for trial. Prior to joining MKCI, she served as environmental litigation and compliance counsel in-house at AT&T, as defense counsel with several personal injury and property damage law firms, and as an attorney with federal and state governmental agencies, including USEPA and NYS Attorney General’s Office. She also handled litigated and non-litigated claims as claims counsel for several major insurance carriers, including AIG and Zurich, N.A. Most recently, she served as Managing Partner of her own solo practice, representing individual plaintiffs in personal injury cases, as well as defending business clients in environmental compliance matters and insurance coverage disputes. She keenly understands the importance of timely and accurate client communication and is passionate about pursuing the best results for her clients.
Jackie is a member of the New York City Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association. She has volunteered to serve as an Attorney Emeritus with the NYS Unified Court System pro bono housing law project, representing indigent clients in NYC Housing Court proceedings. She also served as Editor, New York State Bar Association’s Environmental Law Section Journal, presenting monthly analysis of important environmental cases.
On a personal level, Jackie is an avid reader and jazz afficionado, recently volunteering with the sponsor of the annual Madison Square Park Jazz Festival.
Jackie earned her Juris Doctor degree from St. John’s University School of Law. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from The American University School of Government and Public Administration.
