Derrick Grant is a Partner in MKCI’s Florham Park, NJ office. Derrick focuses his practice on the defense of general liability cases and has significant experience in various areas of litigation, including but not limited to product liability, premises liability, toxic tort, environmental claims, construction defect, Civil Rights claims, professional liability, and insurance coverage disputes. He has experience handling cases pre-litigation and in all phases of litigation up through and including Appellate Practice.
Derrick is a member of MKCI’s General Liability, Toxic Tort, and Insurance Coverage Groups. He is also a regular contributor to MKCI’s website news releases, which highlight notable opinions, law changes and events that impact the firm’s practice and clients.
On a personal level, when not working you can find Derrick on a soccer field or spending time with family. He is an avid sports and country music fan.
Before joining MKCI, Derrick served as Law Clerk to The Honorable Michael F. O’Neill in the Law Division, Civil Part of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Hunterdon County. As a law clerk Derrick assisted in managing the entire Law Division docket, as well as Probate matters, and was trained as a mediator in the Special Civil Part and Landlord-Tenant Court.
Derrick obtained his Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall Law School, and graduated cum laude. During law school, Derrick served as a third-year student attorney in the Seton Hall Law School Center for Social Justice, Family Law Clinic. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Centenary University, and graduated summa cum laude.
