Jim McGovern

Jim is currently involved in all stages of litigation, including claim investigation, written discovery, motion practice, and preparing cases for trial. His lengthy experience has allowed Jim to hone his expertise in commercial and criminal litigation, estate preparation and administration and appellate practice, while garnering skills in mediation, conflict resolution and negotiation. 

Jim has served on the District X B Ethics Committee for West Morris and Sussex Counties. He co-authored the legal article, “Application of the Continuing Violation Doctrine Under Title VII and New Jersey’s Law Against Discrimination.” This article analyzes the legal doctrine that allows plaintiffs to sue for continuous, systemic discriminatory actions even if individual incidents fall outside the standard statute of limitations.

On a personal level, in addition to his work with MKCI, Jim is a Deacon of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Paterson, serving at Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Sparta where he is also active with the Knights of Columbus.

Jim earned his Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers University School of Law-Newark and was awarded the ABA/BNA Award for Excellence in Labor and Employment Law. During his time at Rutgers, Jim served as co-chair of the Moot Court Board and as an associate editor of the Rutgers Law Record. Jim then served as a judicial clerk for the Hon. Dorothea O’C. Wefing, J.A.D. (retired). Jim also holds Master of Arts degrees in Theology from Seton Hall University, and in Political Science from Fordham University, where he was a Presidential Scholar. Jim received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Georgetown University.
