Terrence Moons, Jr. is a Trial Attorney in MKCI’s Coral Springs, Florida office with more than 30 years of litigation experience and over 200 jury trials to verdict in state and federal courts. He enjoys a long-standing reputation for thorough preparation, sound strategic judgment, and effective courtroom advocacy in complex and high-exposure matters. Having tried cases ranging from homicide and white collar litigation to complex civil disputes, Terrence brings his extensive trial experience to the areas of mass and toxic tort litigation, including asbestos and talc matters, construction defect litigation, and a variety of general liability litigation matters, including defense of Child Victims Act and other sexual abuse claims brought against entities and licensed professionals.
Prior to joining MKCI, Terrence served as Lead Staff Counsel at Slide Insurance Company and supervised the Property Defense team at an insurance defense firm. In 2022, he was recruited by Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Company as Lead Subrogation Trial Attorney before moving to its First-Party Property Defense Trial Team. In each role, he served as first-chair trial counsel while supervising litigation teams, developing trial strategy, and mentoring attorneys in courtroom advocacy and real-time trial decision-making.
Terrence began his career as an Assistant Public Defender in Florida’s Seventeenth Judicial Circuit, where he tried more than 100 jury cases in his first five years of practice. He later founded and managed his own law firm, representing clients in complex criminal and civil matters, including cases that drew national and international media attention. From 2018 through 2022, he served as Regional Counsel with Florida’s Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel, Fourth District, handling capital, homicide, and other serious felony and major crime cases. That experience on both sides of the courtroom gives him a broad perspective on litigation strategy, witness credibility, and jury dynamics.
Terrence is a National Association of Fire Investigators Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI), bringing specialized technical knowledge to the evaluation of fire-related property claims, forensic evidence, and expert testimony. He has trained and mentored trial attorneys throughout his career, emphasizing preparation, witness examination, and sound decision-making under the pressures of trial, and has coached the Fort Lauderdale St Thomas Aquinas High School Mock Trial Team.
On a personal level, Terrence is an endurance athlete who has competed in multiple Ironman triathlons across the United States. When he isn’t swimming, cycling, or running, he enjoys playing guitar.
Before beginning his legal career, Terrence served in the United States Army.
